Pre-Departure (incl. Money & Visas)
What should I pack? Do you have a packing list?
Let's face it, safari requires a slightly different wardrobe than a beach getaway. Therefore, we don't provide generic packing lists because every adventure is unique. Instead, as your departure nears, we'll send you a bespoke packing guide tailored to your trip's weather, activities, cultural considerations, and essential gear.
Do I need a visa for my destination?
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) Foreign Travel Advice page provides up-to-date information on entry requirements, safety, and differences in local customs for all countries.
What about passport validity?
To ensure a smooth trip, your passport typically needs six months' validity beyond your return date and sufficient blank pages for stamps/visas. Check your passport's validity now. It's super important! If it doesn't meet your destination's rules, get that renewed quickly. We'd hate for you to face issues like being denied boarding or entry when you arrive.
What type of travel insurance do I need?
As travel consultants, we can't recommend specific insurance policies since they're financial products. However, you must have the right travel insurance in place to protect your holiday investment and well-being.
What vaccinations do I need?
As we can't give medical advice, always consult your GP or a specialised travel clinic at least 6-8 weeks before travel for personalised vaccination recommendations. You can also check the official Travel Health Pro website for country-specific health and vaccination information.
Will I receive physical tickets or e-tickets?
Most airlines and tour operators now issue e-tickets and digital confirmations. We'll send you all your necessary travel documents electronically, much in advance. We'll also advise if any physical documents are required.
Do I need cash for my travel, or can I pay with a card?
We always advise taking some cash with you in case your card doesn’t work or gets lost. For the best exchange rates, check with your bank first, as some offer no fees on online transactions.
Travel Currency Hub offers fantastic rates, much stronger than you'd receive at the airport or a local exchange bureau. They dispatch your chosen currency via insured, tracked Royal Mail special delivery, guaranteed to arrive before 1 pm (next-day delivery for orders placed before noon).
Should I tell my bank about my travel plans?
Always inform your bank and credit card companies of your travel dates. This prevents your card from being flagged for suspicious activity and frozen while you're abroad. Also, ask about foreign transaction fees and keep their international emergency contact number handy for lost or stolen cards.
