An Epic Journey To The Sky
Peru is a land of the ancient Inca civilisation, breathtaking landscapes, and vibrant culture. From the majestic Andes to the lush Amazon, this South American gem promises an adventure for every type of traveller.
Ascend the Inca Trail feeling the crisp mountain air as mist unveils the majestic ruins of Machu Picchu, a lost city clinging precariously to verdant peaks. Explore the vibrant, historic streets of Cusco, the ancient Inca capital, where colonial architecture meets Andean traditions.
Journey into the sun-drenched coastal deserts, where enigmatic Nazca Lines scar the earth. Delve into the steamy embrace of the Amazon at Puerto Maldonado, where a symphony of exotic birdsong and the rustle of unseen wildlife fills the air. Or stand on the shores of Lake Titicaca, the world's highest navigable lake, its serene, shimmering waters reflecting the vast Andean sky.
Did You Know? Peru is the birthplace of the potato, boasting over 4,000 native varieties. From purple to yellow, potatoes have been cultivated in the Andes for millennia, long before the Inca Empire. This vegetable journeyed worldwide, becoming one of Earth's most vital crops.
Ethos Travel Advice: You'll likely experience altitude sickness (soroche as they call it). The best approach is to take it slow. If flying into a high-altitude city like Cusco, consider spending some time in the lower Sacred Valley to help your body adjust. Keep well-hydrated with bottled water, avoid alcohol and intense activity, and opt for lighter, carb-rich meals.
