Or transport yourself to the dynamic heart of Tokyo, where serene traditional gardens like the Imperial Palace East Garden offer tranquil escapes amidst towering skyscrapers and neon-lit streets.
Did You Know? Japan is home to an insanely old royal family! We're talking about the world's longest-running monarchy, with a lineage that stretches back over 2,600 years. The current Emperor, Naruhito, is the 126th in a line that supposedly kicked off way back in 660 BC.
Ethos Travel Advice: Remember to remove your shoes when entering homes, traditional inns (ryokan), and many temples or restaurants – slippers are usually provided. This small act of respect can forge positive interactions and allow you to experience Japan authentically.
